Senior stylist Marie is a qualified L'Oreal Colour Specialist having passed the highly regarded L’Oréal Colour Specialist Degree course in London with a 98% distinction! The course gives a really deep insight into all aspects of hair colouring, which allows Marie to take her colour skills and knowledge to the next level.

I previously worked in two local Salons one as a Saturday girl and the second as a Stylist.

I love doing bobs and short textured cuts, foil colour, plus wedding & special occasion hair. I just love the chance to be creative and create individual looks.

What do you love about being a hairdresser?

I love being creative with colour! I also enjoy the social aspect of my job, and love working with a team.

If you had to live on a desert island, which three Aveda hair products would you take with you?

I previously worked at the Salon for 3 years before working overseas for 2 years and returned in 2019. 

What do you love about hairdressing?

Being able to make someone's day better by giving them a fabulous cut, colour and style.

I love working with rebellious curly hair as I love to see the finished style - ultimate satisfaction!

I would love to cut Claudia Winkleman's fringe!

Creating beautiful hair inspires me every day.

I love doing restyles and colour changes. It is always rewarding to watch clients leave the Salon feeling happy and confident.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?

My clients inspire me. I love to make my clients look and feel great and still have the same buzz after 28 years.

Which celebrity would you like to get your hands on and why?

I would love to persuade Kate Garraway to try a new style. Although her hair is always done for TV I think a new look would make her look even more fabulous

Since April 2022 but I previously worked as a Senior Hair Stylist at another Salon for 19 years.

Balayage.

Who or what inspires you?

My son and daughter, my children never cease to surprise me.

If you had to live on a desert island, which three hair care essentials would you take with you? 

 Rosemary and Mint shampoo and conditioner and a Tangle Teezer wet brush.

Your ultimate ambition?

I am happy working as a Senior Hair Stylist for as long as I can.

How long have you been a Hair Stylist?

I have been hairdressing for 24 years with a break to have my four beautiful children. I joined Gavin Ashley as a part time Hair Stylist in January 2025.

Why did you choose to specialise in cutting?

When I started my training I always enjoyed cutting rather than colouring, so I chose to focus on that.

What is your favourite haircut?

Most definitely a graduated bob as I think this style is so elegant and classy.

What Celebrity's hair would you like to get your hands on and why? 

Taylor Swift because she is so amazing and I would love to give her a new look.

Who or what is your inspiration? 

I love anything from the 80s, the hair, the fashion and the confidence.

What would your desert island 3 hair care essentials be? 

A big round brush, hair straighteners and Kerastase Nutritive nectar thermique (a blow dry milk).

What do you like doing in your leisure time?

I love taking my children out and about, and I enjoy having coffee and gossiping with my girlfriends.

Making people feel beautiful and doing a job that is never the same every day.

Asymmetric or creative hair cuts.

Boris Johnson because his hair is notoriously awful.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?

I like following Kylie Jenner on Instagram as she is always changing her hairstyle.

My mum is a strong, independent woman with ambition and a good work ethic. She has been a great role model and has supported and encouraged me in my hairdressing career.

The creativity involved and watching clients being transformed with a new colour.

Watching all of the Stylists working in the Salon and wanting to be like them.

I played Badminton for Suffolk.
