Green Salon Collective
Visit Gavin Ashley, An Eco Friendly, Green Hair Salon In Bury St Edmunds
Like you, we believe it's important we do all we can to leave our planet in good shape for future generations. That's why Gavin Ashley is working closely with the Green Salon Collective which takes care of our salon waste.
We are on a mission to salon sustainability and are proud to be the first hair salon in Bury St Edmunds to collaborate with @greensaloncollective. We will now recycle, compost and recover hair, used foils, empty colour tubes, chemicals, PPE, plastic, paper and even salon towels!!
Did you know that according to a study at Southampton University, 99% of salon foils ends up in landfill? But by partnering with Green Salon Collective, 100% of our foil will be recycled. They can even raise money from this process and these profits go towards charities and good causes across the UK and Ireland.
Your hair can even be recycled too! Green Salon Collective is working on hair boom and matt projects that could see your hair soaking up an oil spill, and they will also be using it for gardening and composting too.
We hope and trust you will be happy to support us in our environmentally-friendly endeavours. To join Green Salon Collective we’ve decided to add a £1.50 “green fee” to each client visit. So now when you see us in the salon, you’ll be helping us to save our planet too!
If you have any further questions about our green fee please do not hesitate to get in touch by calling Tonia on 01284 754066.
How Are We A Green Hair & Beauty Salon In Bury St Edmunds?
We are proud to announce that we are the first Hair Salon in Bury St Edmunds to collaborate with Green Salon Collective which are the original authority on salon sustainability throughout the UK and Ireland.
RECYCLING // COMPOSTING // RECOVERY
Working with Green Salon Collective, we will recycle:
- Recover Hair
- Used Foil
- Empty Colour Tubes
- Salon Towels
We felt the time was right to become more pro active towards helping the planet and minimise the business impact on waste and the carbon footprint. Clients will now see clearly labelled bins in the salon where wastage will be stored ready for regular collections. We hope that more Salons in town and across the country will become involved to help make the hairdressing industry a more sustainable one.
This follows newly installed LED lighting throughout the salon and sensor lighting in rest rooms, office and stock rooms to reduce energy costs and eco friendly shower heads in shampoo room. We now have hanging baskets in the courtyard and to support the recycling initiative, Gavin has lined them with reused gowns, filled with 100% peat free compost and will make use of only rainwater from our water butt. The baskets on the Salon frontage will be supplied by the West Suffolk Council service who are now also using peat free compost and watering only with rainwater.
